The Bought Round / the rules
wagering and eligibility for a bought round

When a bought round counts for nothing

A bought round is a round, but it is not always a qualifying one. Of the 480 sampled buys, the stake counted toward a bonus wagering requirement in 96 cases and counted for nothing in 384, and 60 buys were barred altogether because they were made from bonus funds or on an excluded game. A reader staking a bonus on features will find the buy priced differently by the rules than by the game.

feature buy100x stakeBuys one whole round at a fixed price. The stake moves from 1x to 100x in a single decision; the return is the bought round's, not the base game's.
ante bet+25% per spinRaises the price of every spin a little and the stated chance of reaching the feature a lot. It makes a non-triggering spin dearer and can make the route to the feature cheaper.
super stake2x per spinDoubles the stake for roughly double the quoted chance. It changes the size of the bet and the variance, not the expected cost of reaching the feature.
gamble0 until a winCosts nothing to be offered, then stakes a win on a double-or-nothing. It is the only control here that can take money already won and put it back at risk.
four controls, one thing in common: each changes what a round costs, and none changes what it can return beyond the game's own mathematics.
Direct answer

An extra-stake control often does not count toward a bonus wagering requirement. Of 480 invented buys, the stake counted in 96 cases (20.0%) and counted for nothing in 384 (80.0%), and 60 buys were barred altogether because they were made from bonus funds or on a game the offer excluded. The control is priced by the game and re-priced by the terms.

Three ways a buy interacts with an offer

The terms answer three separate questions. First, weight: does the bought stake count in full, at a fraction, or not at all toward the wagering requirement. Second, funding: a buy made from bonus funds may be barred, because the feature is a product the offer does not want bought with its money. Third, eligibility: the offer may exclude whole games or whole control types. A reader who takes an offer and then buys features is therefore playing a round whose price is set by two documents at once - the game price list and the offer terms - and the second can make the first count for nothing.

The same buy under three sets of terms buy price 100.00, made from a balance of bonus funds if the buy counts at full weight wagering advanced by 100.00 if the buy counts at no weight wagering advanced by 0.00 so a 3,500.00 requirement needs 35 more buys at 100.00 each = 3,500.00 more staked if the buy is barred the round cannot be bought at all from that balance the price is the same 100.00 in every case; the value to an offer differs by 100.00 a buy
Checking a buy against an offer
  • Find the weight the terms give a bought round; often it is zero.
  • Check whether the buy may be funded from bonus money at all.
  • Check the excluded games list before arming a control.
  • Remember a barred buy is a round you cannot play under that offer, not a round you lose.
  • Re-read the terms at the version that applies to the bet, not the version you first saw.
This desk names no real operator and prints invented treatment shares. Bonus terms and their interaction with extra-stake controls are set by each operator and differ widely; this page explains the shape of the interaction and gives no advice on any offer.
